Project Introduction
After seven years of war, a soldier finally returned home, and his own father did not recognize him. That moment of disbelief, followed by recognition and embrace, is the heart of “Regăsire” (Reunion), a bronze military memorial we created for a client in Europe.
The client came to us with a clear vision: a monument that honors not only the soldier who came home, but also the comrades who fought beside him, those who lost their lives, and especially those whose remains were never found. They wanted a memorial that felt human and quiet rather than grand or triumphal.
The finished sculpture group shows a young soldier in field uniform, a rucksack on his back, bending toward his elderly father, who sits on a tree stump in a worn brimmed hat. The soldier takes the old man’s outstretched hand. The composition is built on the space between the two figures: the height difference, the lowered gaze, the reaching hands. In that space, viewers can feel the years of separation and the emotion of the reunion.
A bronze plaque, mounted beside the sculpture, tells the story behind the work.

The Clay Model
Every one of our bronze monuments begins in clay. For this project, our sculptors built the full-scale model by hand, working closely with the client’s reference materials and the story behind the memorial.
At this stage, we focused on three things:
Expression: the father’s lined face and upward gaze, and the soldier’s lowered head and gentle, searching look.
Gesture: the clasped hands at the center of the composition, which we refined repeatedly until the moment felt natural and tender.
Period detail: the soldier’s cap, rolled sleeves, buttoned pockets, wrapped puttees and laced boots, and the father’s simple work shirt, trousers and hat. Even the rough bark of the tree stump was modeled by hand.
The clay model gave the client the chance to review and approve the pose, likeness and details before moving on to casting.

Patina and Finishing
Our patina artists then gave each figure its final color:
Deep, dark bronze tones for the soldier’s uniform, backpack and boots, reflecting the weight of military service.
Lighter, warmer tones on the father’s shirt, which draw the eye and soften the whole composition.
Golden, polished highlights on the faces and hands, so the emotional center of the piece stays visible from a distance.
The two figures were cast on separate bases, so they can be installed with the precise spacing the composition needs. Before shipping, we assembled and inspected the group in our workshop, then packed it securely for export.

Client Feedback
After installation, the client sent us photos and video of the finished memorial. They were extremely satisfied with the sculpture, from the emotional expression of the figures and the detail of the uniforms to the quality of the casting and patina. The piece was warmly received in its community.
